Long before I started pointing cameras at people, I was standing in front of them with a microphone.
I’ve been singing and entertaining for over 25 years and working at weddings for around 17 of those, so give me a room full of wedding guests and I’m pretty much at home.
As The Wedding Host Wayne Farrow, I host wedding breakfasts, sort the introductions, introduce the speeches, have a bit of banter and, somewhere along the way, usually get half the room out of their seats singing and dancing.
So I’ve got this slightly unusual situation where I can photograph your wedding... but I can also host it and entertain everyone.
And at some point I thought, why am I keeping the two separate?
Turns out, they work ridiculously well together.

I’ll arrive in the morning and photograph your wedding just as I would any other. Preparations, ceremony, confetti, drinks reception, family photos, the two of you and all the moments happening around you.
There’s no singing, no microphone and no clue for your guests that I do anything other than photography.
As far as they’re concerned, you’ve booked Wayne William Photography to photograph your wedding.
Then we get to the wedding breakfast.

They think they've booked a photographer. They're not wrong...
They think they've booked
a photographer.
They're not wrong...
I’ll get your wedding party organised and ready to make their entrance, then I’ll head into the room, pick up the microphone and get everybody on their feet.
We’ll have some fun with the introductions, bring your wedding party in properly and then it’s your turn. By this point, anyone who thought I was just the photographer has probably started to realise there’s a bit more going on.
I’ll introduce your speeches and, yes, you can use my microphone for those too. Once they’re finished, I’ll leave everyone to enjoy their starters.
As the plates are being cleared, I’m back.
I’ll sing and entertain between the courses, getting people involved, up out of their seats and gradually turning the wedding breakfast into a party.
I work alongside the venue and use the natural gaps between courses, so I’m not interrupting your meal. Then after desserts, we bring the whole room together for a big finale.
Even while I’m singing and entertaining, I’m still photographing what’s happening around me. The reactions, the singing, the dancing and all the madness going on around the room.
Some of my favourite photographs actually come from this part of the day.
So you don’t just get the party. You get the photographs that show what it actually felt like to be there.

Yep. And it’s probably one of the first things you’re wondering.
For most of your wedding day, photography is all I’m doing. It’s only when we get to the wedding breakfast that the two sides come together.
I’ve done this enough times to know exactly how to work the room while I’m singing and still capture what’s happening around me.
I’m not trying to choose between being your photographer or your entertainer. For that part of the day, I’m both.
And because I’m right there in the middle of everything, I’m in a pretty good position to catch some absolute belters.
